V&A China Design Now |
|
Abstract - The hub installed the V&A’s Spring 2008 exhibition ‘China Design Now’. The show focussed on three expanding cities; Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, the collection itself was divided into these three areas. A fascinating exploration of the country’s cultural rebirth, ‘China Design Now’ displayed the work of 100 Chinese and international designers, encompassing over 200 objects. The exhibition tackled architecture, fashion, photography youth culture, graphics and furniture design, and also captured the impact of the 2008 Olympic Games on the cityscape of Beijing. A diverse selection of exhibits engaged visitors of all ages, including skateboards, trainers, gadgets and posters. The hub’s project included the creation of very tall free standing towers over 10m high, which demanded careful and complex design development, construction and dismantling.
